Participaron cerca de 300 carros clásicos con historia deportiva representando marcas como Alfa Romeo, Datsun, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Ferrari, Bentley, Porsche, Jaguar, etc.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;El FIAT en preparación para la carrera de su grupo donde se congregaron cerca de 50 vehículos. Estuvimos con Guy Croft, quien amablemente compartió algunos de sus conocimientos y nos dio algunas sugerencias para mejorar el comportamiento del FIAT 131. En este espectacular municipio se corrió la primera parte de las pruebas de velocidad del día, con un premio de montaña en un tramo de 2,8 kilometros muy cruzado y con un alto nivel de dificultad. Luego de algunos contratiempos con algunos vehículos y después que casi todo lograran hacer sus dos intentos, se dió inicio a la segunda etapa del rallye que llevó a los equipos al Autódromo de Tocancipá a realizar la última prueba del día que consistía en un "prime" de velocidad en la pista con unas chicanas adicionales que pusieron un pequeño grado de dificultad a la prueba. En la primera largada, la pista mojada por la lluvia fue bien aprovechada para llegar en el segundo lugar, después de una vistosa disputa con los BMW que salieron adelante. En la segunda serie, con la pista seca el BMW número 45 retomó el segundo puesto por una evidente superioridad mecánica. La participación fue bien nutrida y el Fiat 131 Abarth participó en la categoría 1.600 a 2.100 cc modificados. La válida se corrió en dos series de 12 vueltas al circuito corto del Autódromo de Tocancipá (Colombia). El Fiat 131 Abarth se ubicó 3° al final de la jornada. MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7874/2284/320/131%20abarth.jpg" border="0" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;"&gt;Desde 1971 a 1975, FIAT intentó conquistar el Campeonato del Mundo con un mismo carro: el &lt;strong&gt;FIAT 124 Abarth&lt;/strong&gt; Spider (un carro de competición descapotable). FIAT no había logrado su objetivo...los rivales eran fuertes: el Alpine-Renault, luego el Lancia Fulvia y después con la bestia de los rallys, el Lancia Stratos. Lo anterior unido a la fragilidad mecánica del 124 Spider, hizo que FIAT fracasara en los intentos por ganar el mundial. A pesar de todo, FIAT ganó 4 subcampeonatos del mundo.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Verdana;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;"&gt;Con el objetivo en mente de obtener el campeonato, en 1977 presentaron un nuevo carro: el &lt;strong&gt;FIAT 131 Abarth&lt;/strong&gt;, a partir de la carroceria del 131 Supermirafiori de 1976. El FIAT 131 resultó ser una auténtica máquina para ganar. Se caracterizaba por la sencillez, por su procedencia del 131 de serie, lo cual no complicaba a los mecánicos. También era robusto, ya que FIAT se dedicó a fiabilizar los elementos mecánicos sin aumentar la complejidad. La potencia respecto al 124 Spider aumentó, gracias a la inyección directa, con un motor de 2000 cc, biárbol y de 4 válvulas por cilindro. Se mejoró la suspensión, en funcionamiento y fiabilidad, propiciado por una carrocería más amplia y con más posibilidades que la del 124. Finalmente, FIAT se rodeó de pilotos de 1ª fila como Walter Röhrl (alemán) y Markku Alen (finlandés). &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;"&gt;Fue uno de los primeros carros de rallys en los que apercieron los materiales ligeros: aluminio para techo y puertas, y fibra de vidrio para aletas, capots y parachoques. Esta etapa del rallysmo colombiano ha servido para fomentar la práctica de este deporte y para familiarizar a sus participantes con lo que representa correr un Rally. Ahora bien, naturalmente la evolución del deporte debe llevarnos a concentrarnos en desarrollar Rallys de velocidad que finalmente consolide el crecimiento de este deporte en nuestro país.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;La realización de Rallys de Velocidad (también se les conoce como Rallys de Primera Categoría) impone mayores retos tanto desde el punto de vista de la organización y logística, como de los participantes. Esto implica la necesidad de una vinculación más activa de parte de patrocinadores y del desarrollo técnico de los participantes.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Es un hecho que el rallysmo colombiano necesita evolucionar hacia este tipo de compentencias, pero se requiere generar el conocimiento sobre la preparación de los carros, a nivel técnico y de seguridad. La pintura estaba en mal estado (agrietada y sin brillo), aunque en términos generales no tenía muchos problemas de latonería ni golpes fuertes. Eso si, el paso de los años era notorio y la parte delantera (Caja del motor, guardabarros y torpedos) estaba muy corroida lo cual imponía la necesidad de hacer un buen trabajo de restauración de estas piezas.
